Text Box: 	Home care is a phrase commonly used to refer to a wide range of health and social services. These services are delivered at home to recovering, disables, chronically or terminally ill people in need of medical, nursing, social or therapeutic, and/or assistance with the activities of daily living.
	Generally, home care is appropriate when a person needs ongoing care that cannot easily or effectively be provided solely by family and friends, but does not need to be in a hospital. More and more older people, electing to live independent, non-institutionalized lives, are receiving home care services as their physical capabilities diminish.
Text Box: 	As hospital stays decrease, increasing numbers of patients need highly skilled services when they return home. Other patients are able to stay at home to begin with , receiving safe and effective care in the comfort of their own homes.
	Medicare, the leading insurance coverage for elderly people over the age of 65, offers home care coverage. Medicare will pay for home health care when the care is provided at home for homebound patients who need skilled nursing and/or skilled therapy. Whether the illness is acute, chronic, or advanced, home health can:

Provide practical guidance on planning for the illness, and counseling to the patient and family .
Provide rehabilitative and  maintenance care in the home.
Home health care provides the services necessary to care for patients with many different kinds of illnesses.

Text Box: Honoring Our Hometown Heroes—Allen Goram
Text Box: 	This month we would like to honor  Allen Goram, class E 3 of the Navy Reserves.
	Allen is the son of Gina Goram and has two younger sisters Cindy, 14 and Cecilia, 12. He is the grandson of Jim Miles. Allen’s mother is a member Text Box: of our Lake Martin Hospital family. 
	Allen is 21 years old and graduated from Dadeville High School in 2004. He is an employee of the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, and  is currently stationed in Pensacola, Florida were he is on alert for Iraq deployment. 
Text Box: 	Allen has been stationed in San Antonio, Texas, Japan, and San Diego, California aboard the Naval Ship the USS Boxing. In Allen’s free time, he enjoys fishing, baseball, and is a huge Miami Dolphin and  Auburn fan.
